Title : What is the role of the processing of local products for consumption in economic growth (GDP) and household resilience, to fight against hunger and malnutrition?

Abstract:

Food constitutes the first basic need of humanity and food security must be considered a global public good. In a globalized world, choices and actions in one country can have consequences on food security in other parts of the world.
Today the Democratic Republic of Congo is the second largest country in the world where the food crisis is hitting the country, with 13 million people suffering from hunger and 5 million children suffering from malnutrition. These alarming data are the result of the socio-economic consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic and the limited access of vulnerable children and families to essential services.
The diet must cover the different needs of the body.

We must ensure the viability of food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production, contribute to the preservation of ecosystems, strengthen the capacity to adapt to changes, extreme climatic phenomena, drought, floods and other disasters and gradually improve the quality of land and soil.

The food must provide a certain number of calories, this is the quantitative aspect of the food ration. But it also provides good quality nutrients. Errors in the proportions of each type of food constitute imbalances, also called dietary deficiencies which quickly lead to malnutrition. For consumers, a balanced diet is not their choice, this character favors the absence of certain nutritional values in the food ration.

A food ration may be proportionally too rich in sugar, flour, roots, bananas, and insufficient in meat, fish, insects, eggs, vegetables and fresh fruits: in this case, there are too many energy foods and heat, and not enough building and protective foods. This imbalance is known as protein malnutrition or “kwashiorkor”.
Innovation:
SOMMAC is a food supplement, invented by Mr Dieudonné KEBA, for the prevention of malnutrition, a flour to qualify as a local product made from animal proteins and vegetable proteins.
It represents :
-    50 to 70% animal proteins;
-    30 to 50% vegetable proteins;
-    As well as types of lipids related to omega3 and 6 (w3/w6).

What will audience learn from your presentation?
-    Ensure the viability of food production systems and implement resilient agricultural practices that increase productivity and production to ensure product processing;
-    Contribute to improving the health of populations by limiting health risks by providing them with healthy water, sustainable food, which makes it possible to fight against malnutrition and obesity, ensure socio- economic improvement and protection of the 'environment;
-    Improve the living conditions of rural populations by eradicating hunger and malnutrition by guaranteeing access to safe, nutritious and sufficient food for all, in adequate quantity and quality in a sustainable manner and fighting against food waste.

The public will be able to use the practice of our innovation in a specific way:

Our products and services are all industrial activities transforming raw materials from agriculture and livestock into food products intended primarily for human consumption. Our strategy to solve the problems, we provided family farmers with better access to services, infrastructure and markets, to create the conditions for urban dwellers to eat more fresh and nutritious food through short supply chains, as well as urban and peri-urban agriculture by providing rapid and adequate support to populations threatened by food insecurity, through the processing and packaging of products.

This is research that other professors can use to expand their research. Our product is an innovation that provides solutions to problems related to agriculture and food and will provide new information to the public
