Title : Effect of Giberellic acid and maleic hydrazide on growth, flowering and yield of African marigold cv. Pusa Basanti Gainda
Abstract:
An experiment was carried out at the research farm of Raja Balwant Singh College, Bichpuri, Agra during Rabi season in the year 2021-2022 to study the effect of Gibberellic acid and Maleic hydrazide on growth, flowering and yield of African marigold (Tagetes erecta L.) cv. Pusa Basanti Gainda. The experiment was laid out in Randomized Block Design with the three replications which consist of different concentration of GA3 and MH as 0 : T1, (control), T2 : 50, T3 : 100, T4 : 200, T5 : 300 ppm and T6 : 250, T7 :500, T8 : 500, T9 : 1000 ppm respectively. The foliar spray of the growth regulators were applied at 20 and 40 days after transplanting (DAT). The foliar application of GA3 at 200 ppm was found significantly maximum effective on the maximum plant height, minimum days taken to first flower appearance. However, the application of MH at 1000 ppm revealed that the maximum value were on plant spread (E-W and N-S), diameter of the main stem, number of primary branches, length of longest primary branch, diameter of flower, number of flowers per plant and number of buds per plant at 60 DAT.
