Continuous greenhouse gas emissions from natural and anthropogenic sources since the industrial revolution have contributed to climate change. Horticulture is likely to be affected by changes in the weather. Temperature extremes like heat waves and frost are also becoming more common. The physiological processes of vernalization and winter chilling in vegetables are very dependent on temperature in order to function properly. As a result, heat stress can lead to crop yield and harvest scheduling anomalies. Climate change puts fruit crops at risk of frost and lack of chilling, as cold temperatures in the winter are required to encourage spring blossoming. Temperature and humidity fluctuations can also cause abiotic illnesses in horticulture. Increased plant growth and premature ripening under high temperatures may have an adverse effect on the nutritional value of some crops. Sugars, acids, and antioxidant capability are all examples of quality characteristics that can alter. Symptoms such as early blossoming and early crop harvest have already been observed in several crops, such as mango and litchi, in addition to other effects. In order to sustain high levels of output and outstanding product quality while adjusting to these new climate conditions, the creation of new climate-adapting cultivars is required. Another option that is more practical is the development of new cultivation techniques that can be applied rapidly and without incurring significant costs. More advanced methods, such as agroecological approaches, on the other hand, are becoming increasingly relevant in the field to improve the adaptation of specialized crops.
