Abstract:
According to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the population will increase by 2 billion by 2050. However, only 4% of additional land comes under cultivation. There is huge potential to improve yields and cropping intensity by appropriate planning and management. In this context, the latest technological solutions to make farming more efficient remains one of the greatest imperatives. While Artificial Intelligence (AI) sees a lot of direct applications across sectors, it can also bring a paradigm shift in how we see farming today. AI-powered solutions will not only enable farmers to do more with less resources, but it will also improve the quality and ensure a faster go-to-market for crops.
In the above light, we have developed an agri-tech platform that helps to visualize, analyze and interpret satellite and drone-based geospatial data along with IoT data to understand spatial distribution, spatio-temporal relationships, patterns, and trends. The platform provides information regarding the, soil fertility, current weather information, crop suitability, farm mechanization, current season crop acreage, near-real time crop health assessment, weather forecast, pest forecast, in-season early warnings on climate emergency and crop advisories, crop loss assessments, yield estimation and market yard linkage. Further, the system helps to empower data-driven decisions for improving crop success rate and helps farmers to increase Gross Value Addition.
Further Geospatial Informatics harnesses the power of location along with big data and analytics that ensures easy accessibility of information based on farm level accuracy, catering services towards the Agriculture Sector wherein the advent of emerging technologies plays a vital role in leveraging smart solutions further fostering decision support for sustainable farming.
