Title : Innovation and sustainability: Addressing Nigerias developmental challenges through collaboration and emerging technologies

Abstract:

Nigeria’s development landscape remains defined by persistent challenges ranging from poverty, unemployment, inadequate infrastructure, to weak governance and environmental degradation despite its significant human and natural resources. This review explores how innovation and sustainability, anchored in strategic collaboration and emerging technologies, can be catalytic tools in addressing these systemic barriers. Drawing on an extensive synthesis of academic literature, policy analysis, and practical case studies, the paper examines the interplay between innovation ecosystems, sustainability frameworks, and collaborative models within key sectors such as energy, agriculture, health, education, and governance. The review outlines how emerging technologies like AI, IoT, blockchain, and renewable energy are transforming traditional practices and enabling inclusive, context-responsive solutions. It further assesses the role of cross-sector partnerships, international cooperation, and institutional reforms in amplifying impact. The findings underscore that the integration of innovation and sustainability cannot occur in silos; rather, they require cohesive governance, participatory frameworks, and systems-level coordination. By showcasing Nigerian and global examples of collaborative, tech-driven development, the paper offers insights into how Nigeria can transition toward a more equitable, resilient, and knowledge-based economy. Ultimately, it advocates for a holistic and future-oriented development model grounded in inclusive innovation, environmental stewardship, and institutional synergy.
