Biography:
Dr. Anne Alerding is a Professor of Biology and Director of the Virginia Military Institute herbarium. Before joining the faculty at VMI, she received a MS in Botany from the University of British Columbia, a PhD in the Interdepartmental Program of Plant Physiology from The Pennsylvania State University, and a USDA Postdoctoral Fellowship in Plant Molecular Biology under the guidance of Dr. Brenda Winkel at Virginia Tech University. Dr. Alerding’s research interests span the disciplines of plant physiology, agronomy, ecology. She currently uses biochemical and image analysis approaches to improving seed yield in soybean field crops. She has served as a Panelist for the USDA and the NSF.
