Data was collected from 30 smallholder pig farmers in Penhill, Faurie, Mfuleni, Makhaza and Khayelitsha). Descriptive analysis was used to analyze responses (frequency distributions, percentages, mode, means). Results indicated that age, gender, education level, farming experience and monthly income have no effect on record keeping. While type of market, being an informal farmer as well as lack of government funding/ support have proven to have a negative impact on production record keeping.
